| CHESS PLANET SERVICES TO SCHOOLS | |
Chess Demonstrations : FREE A chessplanet instructor visits your school to provide a 1hr information seminar for all potential students. The instructor will discuss some strange & fascinating aspects of chess using a huge 'hang-up' chess-board. The session concludes with the instructor playing everyone at once, on up to 20 boards…with pr izes for any winners!
Lunchtime & after school Classes : The most popular form of coaching in operation. The instructor visits the school on a weekly basis, taking the students on a journey through the thicket of chess strategy & tactics. After a 10-15 minute lecture ( depending on class capability ), students attempt to complete one of several short quiz's ( 10minutes ) in an effort to gain their 'certificate of achievement' for their particular level. Currently, students can attempt to gain up to twenty different achievement awards…from 'Piece Master' through to 'Combination Genius'. The second half sees the children pitting wits against one another in the tournament for the school championship.
Chess in the Curriculum : The most cost effective form of chess coaching…from as little as $2.50 per student per class! Hugely popular...these are often directed at students with special needs ( eg gifted ) or simply as the most cost-effective means of providing the benefits that only chess can deliver.
Inter-house Competitions : $7.50 per competitor A sure-fire way to make chess a big hit at your school! The school provides a suitable playing area…we provide sets, boards, clocks, computerised pairing system and awards.
Half and Full Day Programs : from only $200 For those schools for whom regular, weekly coaching is problematic ( eg distance ) The instructor can visit the school for a 'one-off' display…either morning sessions ( 9:00 - 12:30 ) or full day ( 9:00 - 3:00 ) These programs have been used extensively to promote a new chess class, usually held during the first week of term, or at end of term in more remote areas. The full day session involves the students in a 7-round school championship on top of coaching. Trophies supplied for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, as well as certificates for all participants.
