ChessPlanet aims to inspire young people with the beauty and excitement of chess through the implementation of structured educational programmes prepared by two of Australia's most gifted chess instructors. All employees are required to use the same extensive set of lesson plans:

 
Teaching method

Our teaching method relies heavily on goal setting for students at all levels. The class structure consists of three parts:

i. The lecture - a new topic is presented each week, but all topics in a term are inter-related.

ii. Tutorial Work - regular quiz sheets are solved by volunteer students showing their solutions using an overhead projector. In this way, children learn from each other with immediate feedback from the teacher.

iii. Competition games - This is the 'engine-room' in which the child's concentration and problem solving ability is forged. The primal urge to survive fosters the need to concentrate or perish. Sounds tough? That's Chess! It's not for the faint hearted!
